Peter Collins
Peter Collins (1940 – 2021) was born in London on 26th February 1940, the eldest son of Eileen and Patrick Collins. Peter’s siblings were Anne, Andrew and Michael. Due to their father being an RAF pilot, the family moved many times, living in Singapore and Hong Kong. Peter started school, boarding at St Dominic’s and finally at Stowmarket High School. Peter studied Electronic Engineering at Lewisham Technical College before being apprenticed with Hong Kong Electric. He moved to Seeboard where he spent most of his working life and later he became a consultant. Living in Sevenoaks, Peter played rugby for the Old Juddians. He was Men’s Captain of Sevenoaks Swimming Club and played water polo. He had a passion for cars, owning an Austen 7 and was an early adopter of technology. Peter’s interests ranged from genealogy, gardening, to organising Medieval Banquets. Peter was ‘Squire’ of The Royal Borough of Morris Dancers. He was passionate about folk music, singing at festivals and folk clubs and he made period instruments. Peter met Maureen at his nineteenth birthday party and they married in 1963. Peter and Maureen had three children Becky, Mat and Liz and four grandchildren.
