Annette Maureen Sides Johnson

Annette Maureen Sides Johnson (1937 – 2022) was born on 20^th October 1937, the first child of Minnie and Harry Higgins.  She grew up in Pontefract with her younger brother Peter and her Uncle Ken, who only a few years her senior, was like an older brother.  Annette attended Love Lane School and Pontefract Girls’ High, before starting work at the Co-op Insurance.  Annette married Bill on 12^th May 1956 at St Giles Church, Pontefract.  They lived for over sixty years at South View Gardens where they brought up their four children, Martyn, Ian, Alison and Stuart.  Whilst her children were growing up Annette worked as a waitress at the Co-op Café.  Annette’s interests included tending their garden and allotment, dogs and travel, holidaying in the UK before adventuring to Malta, Australia, China, Chile and Peru.
