Gordon Stanley Marshall
Gordon Stanley Marshall (1934 – 2021) was born on 30th January 1934 in Shepperton, Middlesex, the youngest brother of Norman, Ronnie and Jean. After leaving Ashford County Grammar School, at sixteen Gordon started work in a construction company in Feltham. For his National Service Gordon served in the Royal Artillery in Germany and qualified as a surveyor. Returning to the UK Gordon became a Site Engineer, then Site Agent for Hadsphaltic Construction, which became Johnston Construction where Gordon became Director for the Midlands and North regions. He worked on major construction projects in the UK and abroad, including the runway at Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands. Gordon married Muriel and living in Barford, Warwickshire. They had two children Sam and Paul and four grandchildren. Gordon later married Helen and moved to Burmington where he was active in the local community, becoming Treasurer of Burmington Parish Meeting. A keen dog lover, Gordon’s other interests included classical and jazz music. A supporter of Brentford FC Gordon was keen on sport. He played football, badminton, squash and golf, becoming an honorary member of Broadway Golf Club.
