Christine McCaffrey
Christine McCaffrey (1933 – 2022) was born on 18th January 1933, the only child of Dennis and Beatrice Hanrohan. She grew up in Surbiton, the Isle of Wight and Worthing. After leaving school Christine took a Pitman secretarial course and began her long career in the motor racing industry, initially working for Jack Brabham and then John Coombs until her retirement in 1993. She was also a PA to Walter Norton and Diana Barnato Walker. In 1961 Christine married Tony McCaffrey, a photographer she had met when he was photographing motor racing, but the marriage did not last. In her early years Christine was a member of the Sea Rangers and Surbiton Rowing and Sailing Club and she enjoyed cycling. Later in life, Christine used to drive long distances all over the UK and after her mother died, with her father to France and Ireland. Christine enjoyed the company of her many friends and family in Ireland and Canada.
