Keith Smith
(Douglas) Keith Smith was born on 21st April 1949 in Thorne, near Doncaster, the only child of Cynthia and Ted Smith. Having won a scholarship to art college, Keith specialised in Exhibition Design. His first job was as a window display designer working at Owen, Owen the departments store in Liverpool. Keith moved to E J Arnold, the stationers in Leeds before moving to London. Keith became a manager for the SEGAS Display and Exhibitions department and after 25 years he retired from British Gas. Keith with Mark a SEGAS work colleague, set up their own business DEX Partnerships and later, Mark One Exhibitions. Keith’s first wife was Heather, his second was Rita and they had three daughters Jemma, Becci and Pippa and he was a grandfather to Ben, Maeva, Jasper and Nate. Throughout his life Keith’s loved river fishing and watching wildlife and after meeting Lynda who became his civil partner in August 2022, art became important to him.
