Annette Rae Maloney

Annette Rae Maloney was born in Cheltenham on 30th April 1949, the eldest child of Hilda and Raymond Pennell.  Her younger siblings were Yvonne, Ray and Don.  She attended Rowanfield Junior School and Pates Grammar School and went to university to read Mathematics and Physics, gaining her degree from Sussex University.  Annette’s first marriage was to a fellow astronomer and after graduating they both worked at Herstmonceux.  After training to be a teacher, Annette’s first job was at Bexhill College and her second at The Grove.  Retraining as an Accountant, Annette qualified whilst working for Raymond and Co where she worked until her retirement in April 2018.  Annette met Michael at Bexhill College and they were married in 1978.  Jessica was born in 1980.  Annette and Michael travelled the world together, many times to the USA and also around the whole of the UK.  Annette’s public duties included: being involved with the Trussell Trust; Labour Councillor in the Wishing Tree Ward, Hastings; Constituency Treasurer for the Labour Party; Magistrate.  Annette was passionate about the theatre, regularly going to productions as well as taking active roles in small theatres.  Annette was renowned for her skills at sewing and embroidery.
