Margaret Elizabeth Sanderson

Margaret Elizabeth Sanderson and her sister Pat were brought up by their father and close relatives after their mother died.  Margaret went to Lydgate Junior School, Sheffield.  Margaret had a son Jeremy with her husband Leslie, but the marriage did not last.  Having studied for her ‘O’ levels and attended Lady Mabel Teacher Training College at Wentworth Woodhouse, Margaret became a teacher at Parson Cross Junior School, Sheffield where she worked for many years.

Margaret continued to study, art and architecture with the Open University and botanical art at evening class.  She researched her family history and her other interests included history, art and craft work, cooking and gardening.  After her retirement, Margaret helped to run the Rivelin Valley Conservation Group.  Margaret travelled in the 1950’s to Communist Yugoslavia, and she often went on holiday with her lifelong friend Maureen, exploring Northumberland, Isle of Skye, Outer Hebrides, Norway and Iceland and she flew on Concorde to the USA.  Margaret was a grandmother to Chloe and James, Jeremy and Carole’s children and an aunt to Jacqui and Susan.
