Ronald (Ron) Fred Herbert Muggridge
Ronald Fred Herbert Muggridge, Ron (1928 – 2024) was born in Edenbridge on the 25th January 1928 to Bill and Fanny Muggridge, a younger brother to Dennis.
Ron left school at 14, working in a factory making machines and aircraft parts until the end of the Second World War. Conscripted for National Service in 1946, Ron served in the RAF until 1948 when he left to work for Southern Builders. In 1951 Ron joined the GPO (later Post Office Telecommunications, then British Telecom) as a telephone engineer, where he worked for over 40 years.
Ron and Bett met in 1947. Married on 9th July at Four Elms church near Edenbridge they celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary in 2019. Ron and Bett had two children, Dennis and Linda. Ron and Bett were keen dancers and helped to organise dances at Jarvis Brook, the Four Elms Club, and the Angel Centre in Tonbridge. Ron’s other interests were football and he played in the Edenbridge Brass Band. His skills included paperhanging and woodwork.
