Gail Scott
Gail Scott (1955 – 2024) grew up in Sowerby Bridge with her siblings Deborah, Angela, Steven, Duncan and Mark. In 1987 Gail gained a BA in Humanities from Huddersfield Polytechnic. She had various jobs including in 1973 working on a kibbutz in Israel, and she spent a year working on an archaeological dig. Most of her life Gail spent helping others, working in care homes for the elderly and looking after children with special educational needs. Gail fought many battles for social justice and had a lifelong interest in the politics of the Middle East.
Gail had a son Che and they moved to Germany to be with Steve. Returning from Paderhorn to the UK, Gail met Jules and they settled in Booth House Terrace, Luddendenfoot, near Sowerby Bridge. Gail loved been outdoors and would walk from their house into the hills. She and Jules enjoyed many camping holidays across the UK and explored many countries in Europe. After Gail retired as a Learning Link tutor at Halifax College, she was able to focus on the garden and spend more time with Jules and Jacqui, her lifelong friend from school days.
