Susan (Sue) Mary Adams

Susan Mary Adams (1948 – 2021), Sue, was born in Bilston, West Midlands on 28th December 1948 to Jack and Nell Brown. The family initially lived in Ettingshall with Sue’s grandparents before the family moved to Finchfield.  Sue, an only child, went to Westacre Infants and Regis Secondary schools.  She left school at sixteen and gained an RSA Secretarial qualification at Wulfrun College in Wolverhampton.  Later, Sue retrained to work with computers, working for the NHS in the Speech and Language Therapy department, until her retirement.

Sue married Chris Adams on 10th June 1972.  They had two sons Mark and David and Sue was a grandmother to Ernest and Marigold.

Sue carried out many voluntary roles: helping at the boys’ Scout camp; the Warstones and Highfield school PTAs; she attended NSPCC lunches and was a member of the Bilston branch of the Soroptimists. She accompanied Chris, the National Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, to formal events and gave speeches herself on occasions.  Sue had many friends, some made through her interests of dressmaking and making birthday and anniversary cards and some from travelling.  Sue and Chris travelled extensively with Chris’s business commitments and on holiday, in the early years as a family and for over 20 years with ‘Jim’s Trips’ (Jim Godsell), visiting amongst others, North and South America, South Africa, Hong Kong, Vietnam and India.
