(Kevin) Fraser Simpson
Kevin Fraser Simpson (1950 – 2024), known as Fraser, was born in London on 2 March 1950, to Gay and Ray Simpson, the eldest brother to Kim, Gerry and Roly. Due to his father’s job, the family moved to Yorkshire and Pakistan, and when Fraser was five, to Hong Kong. Leaving his boarding school in the UK, Fraser studied for his ‘A’ Levels of Art, French and English Literature at the King George V school in Hong Kong. Being good at sports, in particular rugby, he became a member of the Hong Kong Rugby Club.
After leaving school, Fraser joined Gibb Livingstone (part of the Inchcape group) in Hong Kong before forming his own company in Hong Kong with his brother Gerry. Fraser travelled extensively, particularly to Italy to source marble for the family business. In Hong Kong and on his travels he collected antiques. Fraser was renowned for his extravagant parties, often themed, on the roof of his apartment in Hong Kong or on his Chinese junk boat ‘Fire Boat’. Fraser spoke fluent Cantonese.
Fraser returned to the UK in his mid-fifties and in his final years, lived in Courtney Gate, Hove. He loved classic cars and had owned a 1970’s Morris Traveller and a 1960’s Austin Healey.
Fraser had four children with his wife Susan, Scott, Hayley, Taylor and Cameron and he was grandfather to Dylan, Teddy and Cleo.
