Carolyn Mary Beeley
Carolyn Mary Beeley (1946 – 2024) was born to Clarice and Brian Earnshaw on 22 August 1946 in Leeds, the older sister to Thomas. After moving to Beccles a village in Suffolk, the family returned to Yorkshire where Carolyn attended Batley Girls’ Grammar School. She trained as a teacher in Sunderland and when her children were old enough, returned to teaching, at Shooters Grove Junior School until she retired in 2005.
Carolyn was captain of the hockey and netball teams at grammar school. She liked listening to Test Match Special on the radio, following England playing cricket. Carolyn loved history, was a voracious reader, reading historical novels and she liked watching television dramatisations of Jane Austen novels.
Meeting Clive Beeley in 1968, they were married on 27 July 1972, lived in Stannington, and had two children, Simon and Fiona and three grandchildren, Melissa, Jessica and Jasmine. After retirement, Carolyn and Clive travelled across Australia and New Zealand, all over Europe as well as visiting Hawaii and Ireland.
