Barbara Edith Joan Green
Barbara (1952 – 2024) was born in Ripon, North Yorkshire, to Joan and Eric, a younger sister to Sylvia, Freddie, Dot, Tricia, and Eric. She was followed by Brian and Diane, who died as a stillborn baby. The family moved to Beech Road when it was newly built, and Barbara lived there for the rest of her life. She did not marry.
The family worked in local industries − many of the women in the Mending Rooms, and days out and holidays were in the Yorkshire countryside and to events such as the Masham Steam Rally, Redcar.
After leaving school Barbara worked at the Buxted Chicken Factory. She enjoyed her social life in the local tea rooms and dance halls while caring for her Grandma, Dolly, and her parents, and she also helped to bring up her nephew and niece, Paul and Sharon. When the factory closed, she took on the running of the family home. She was adept at cooking, and enjoyed home decorating and visiting Leeds market. She lived her life caring for others.
